The Hypnobirthing Mongan Method is one of the most well-known approaches to hypnobirthing, developed by Marie Mongan in the late 1980s. It is based on the idea that childbirth can be a calm, natural, and positive experience when the mother is properly prepared and free from fear and tension. This method focuses on using relaxation, breathing, visualization, and affirmations to reduce pain and promote a more comfortable labor.
1. Relaxation and Self-Hypnosis: Helps mothers enter a deep state of relaxation, reducing the production of stress hormones like adrenaline and encouraging the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers.
2. Breathing Techniques: Focuses on specific breathing exercises for each stage of labor to keep the mother calm and reduce physical tension.
3. Eliminating Fear: Emphasizes the mind-body connection, teaching mothers to overcome fears about childbirth, which can cause tension and pain.
4. Visualization and Affirmations: Uses positive imagery and affirmations to help mothers envision a smooth and peaceful birth experience.
5. Partner Involvement: The birth partner plays an active role in supporting the mother, helping her stay relaxed and focused.

What Are Hypnobirthing Mongan Method Classes Like?

Hypnobirthing classes using the Mongan Method are typically structured in a series of sessions (usually 4–5, lasting 2–3 hours each) that cover various aspects of preparation for birth. Here’s what you can expect:
1. Education About Birth:
• Anatomy and physiology of childbirth.
• How the uterus and hormones work during labor.
• Understanding the stages of labor and birth.

2. Relaxation Techniques:
• Guided meditations and relaxation exercises.
• Practice self-hypnosis to enter a deep state of calm.

3. Breathing Exercises:
• Learning techniques like calm breathing, surge breathing (for contractions), and birth breathing (for delivery).

4. Fear Release:
• Addressing and overcoming fears around childbirth through discussion and visualization.

5. Partner’s Role:
• Teaching the birth partner how to provide physical and emotional support, including massage techniques and affirmations.

6. Practical Tools:
• Creating a birth plan.
• Understanding your options for labor and delivery, including positions and comfort measures.

My main task is to mother the mother, so she can be the best mother for her baby. I blend my experience as midwife, as a doula and also my personal experience of being a mother of 5 kids, to give you the ONE AND ONLY THING you will not find on instagram: confidence.
I strongly believe that every mother is best fit for her baby and is totally capable of birthing him and to take care of him/her, with just the right support. I will not tell you that you need me to deliver your baby peacefully, I will show you how you already have all you need inside you and how your husband is the best birth companion you can ask for.
